my partner in crime

Thursday I got home from work about 11:00pm (which was actually early usually its between 12:00am-12:30am) Anyway Friday was my last night on this late shift and my training class was having a farewell potluck for me so I came home early because I had a lot to do at home. I really wanted to make this Broccoli salad for potluck so James and I headed to wal-mart to get the supplies. When we got to wal-mart they didn't have the broccoli slaw or dressing I needed. We checked Smith's and still couldn't find it. James suggested we go on an adventure to find broccoli slaw and promised to take me to as many wal-marts as needed to accomplish this task.

The mission:

The supplies:

The Adventurers:

So we were out way too long but we found the ingredients for my salad and it was DELISH. I got lots of compliments.

So speaking of potlucks, I got a new job which is a GREAT thing, You know how it feels when you can't stand work anymore and just thinking about it is depressing,... ? Thats how things were getting for me. But I am loving my new job as a call center trainer.  Here I am all headed out to work. I colored my hair dark again too.

Marriage

I saw this video and this is my thoughts EXACTLY. I'm really tired of people saying that not supporting gay marriage = intolerance and hate.

Weekend adventures

We got up on Saturday morning to silence, very rare but there were no kids! We wanted to go on a roadtrip but didn't have a big budget. We decided to go on priceline and "name your own price" and see where we ended up without leaving the valley.

We ended up here

We went to dinner, ok so its kinda ghetto, but we love us some chinese gourmet

After dinner we went to the pool and hot tub

then we cuddled up and watched the new movie james bought me, and ate E.L. Fudge cookies :)

About 15 mins in James said... "so is this going to be ALL music? Because I don't know if I can take that!!" lol. but he did. What a trooper. It was lovely spending time with my James all to myself :)

Luck o the irish

James thinks it is crazy to "celebrate" St. Patricks day, but growing up my mom would make an amazing green breakfast and send us to school with a special green lunch, and gave us a little gift., It was fun and special so I carry it on!!

Sat night we made a Leprechaun trap which the boys were SO excited about. We had cupcakes for bait and Lucky Charms trailing to the door. Unfortunately he got away and he caused some mischief before he left. Strewing blankets all over, knocked over the lamp and chairs and even turned our milk green!

After:

Tiny green footprints all over!!

breakfast, not as awesome as moms!

Later we had some activities. We made Rainbow necklaces with yarn and fruitloops.

Carter and Ava modeling

We had a scavenger hunt

the clues!

treats I made that were the treasure

We played Don't Eat Lucky

and colored

Dessert was green colored Vanilla pudding layers with layers of Oreos

Dinner: green chicken alfredo, home made rolls, mixed veggies, and green can of soda

A few notes: I had not worked for 2 weeks which let to a few problems... one.... no money. I spent about $30 which was mostly food. Also I didn't get paid until the friday before leaving me shopping the night before and most green things were GONE. So many of my plans were improvised last minute.

So my tips.... one plan ahead (if you can) two, even of you don't have money its inexpensive to plan a few special things. three.... have fun and involve everyone. James even made and WORE a fruit loop necklace!

Family game night

We got a new game this week for our game night. Uno Roboto, it's just like Uno but the little Robot interrupts the game with random commands. After that we played Monopoly for a while but its so long we never play a full game

For thetreat this week I made lemonade cookies. They are an easy go to treat that are quick

I miss summer!

I miss camping, swimming, BBQ's, Picnics, Parks, Gardening, Sitting outside with a book and a diet coke, and all manner of outside awesomeness. Sigh.

In the meantime I am eagerly preparing for St. Patricks day (and Easter!) So to get in the mood Imade the always fantastic Shamrock Shakes!

2 cups vanillia ice cream
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp mint extract
1/4 tsp green food coloring
Blend!
Whip cream and sprinkles on top!

Last year when I made these I blended for quite a bit before my old ghetto blender got the job done. This year, I learned my Ninja is too effective and all it takes it a few pulses to get it to shake consistancy.

We made shakes and watched (the beginning) of PS I love you.

Fun Times!

This weekend I was craving chocolate. Just before I sent James to go fetch me some I saw cocoa powder in the cupboard. A lot of it. (See when I lived with Jessica we were going to make cupcakes and we both bought some. She left it and I never even opened mine so I have 2 practically full containers of cocoa powder) Anyway.... so I remembered I had *just* pinned a recipe for brownies I wanted to try so after a quick check to make sure I had all the ingredients Homemade Brownies happened.

Yeah we just eat brownies out of the pan with a fork around here. :)

The only problem is James is not a huge fan of Chocolate and therefore these super duper rich chocolatey goodness were not his favorite.

So after I made dinner, I whipped up another tasty treat for our little at home date night of the week.

That is when Rolo Stuffed Snickerdoodles happened!

Amazing recipe HERE

She links to her "perfect snickerdoodle" recipe which is what I used. Then toy wrap around a rolo and bake, oh my goodness. I am addicted!

James and I have been watching Harry Potter movies the last couple weeks (he had never seen any ?!?!) And we just finished the series a few days ago. So it was only appropriate that I set up a Harry Potter Scene It date complete with lots of snacks, big ol drinks from 7-11 and lots of silly fun.

Oh and I won. :)
