The tiniest little Godsey

This is the birth story of little Lucas, I know it is long but it is so special to me to remember.

Feb 26, 2014

Baby Godsey's induction was set to take place on Wednesday Feb 26th. The hospital was very busy that night so they kept pushing back our arrival time. We did not end up getting to our room until 10:45pm. We got settled in and started on Cervidil. Labor and delivery is not a comfortable to stay long term. I asked for something to help me sleep and they gave me Ambien, Still I didn't sleep until about 3AM.

Feb 27th, 2014

This was suppose to be our baby's birthday. I was on Cervidil part of the day then we started Pitocin. By 10:00 pm i was only at a 4. A doctor came to break my water but decided they couldn't because the baby was too high and there was so much fluid this caused too high of a risk that the cord would wrap around him. So we waited for my doctor. On his way he got called to an emergency c section at another hospital. At this point I was asking for an epidural and they called the anesthesiologist. He came in and explained to me that while he would do the epidural if I wanted he thought it would be better to wait for my doctor so that we could determine if we were going to proceed with a vaginal delivery or a c section. So I waited. 2 more hours. The contractions were terrible (I don't know how people have natural labor without drugs... it was miserable) FINALLY around midnight my doctor arrived. I absolutely love my doctor and as soon as he arrives I feel much better. We talk about my options and risks and finally decide to go ahead with a c section. I was disappointed and scared but I just want my little guy to get here safely.

During all this time in Labor and Delivery I ate lots of popcicles and jello and I drank a lot of water, sprite zero, chicken broth, and juice.

oh I spent way too much time here... but the nurses in L&D were amazing, even if they did start their shift by saying "what?? You're still here??"

My Sexy husband on his uber comfy, um, bed.

Yikes!

What do you do at 3am when you are all alone in the hospital and can't sleep? Take selfies of course!

After all that waiting things started moving so quickly! Before I know if James has on his "daddy scrubs" I am prepped and being taken to the OR. Can i just say the anesthesiologist was so nice! I had a spinal block which in my opinion was way better than getting the epidural. I hated the feeling of the epidural when I had Carter. Anyway during the procedure I was really uncomfortable and nauseous. I was fighting the urge to puke the entire time. The anesthesiologist was so nice. He could tell I was having a hard time and he talked to me to try to keep my mind off it. He would tell me what they were doing and how close they were to being done. Then he held my puke bag when I did finally lose it.

After the baby was born and weighed, James was holding him and brought him over to my face. I moved the oxygen mask and kissed my sweet angel for the first time. He was so beautiful and I was truly smitten. Baby boy was 9 lbs 5oz and was 21.5 inches long. He was born at 3:05am to two very tired parents.

It didn't take too long before we were done and being moved back to the L&D room. After seeing his sweet face I finally decided on the name Lucas Henry Godsey. I had the opportunity to do skin to skin and nurse him. It was pretty frustrating because I could not really hold or move him very well and suddenly I was so incredibly exhausted. But we managed and they moved us to the Recovery room on the second floor where we would stay the remainder of our visit.
